Dexter Lee Price-Purley, Donor
He will live on in our hearts...
My son Dexter was terribly hurt in a car accident. He was 26 years old; he was my third son. His father and I, and his two older brothers and little sister made a decision to have something good come out of this tragedy. We wanted to donate his kidneys to someone in need who would get a second chance at life. My mother was a donor, and she said if someone could use the tissue or organs why let them go to waste. My son mentioned that he would like to do what grandma did: donate. My son was quiet; he was kind, and he loved his family. His family was at his side until the end. He had just caught his first big catfish the weekend before. He loved to play hacky sack and he loved to do movie quotes. He was born and raised in Arizona, and he graduated from high school. He was handsome and a great speller. He liked to camp, and was a wonderful son and brother. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He helped two women with his donation of kidneys and we are happy that those families didn’t lose their loved ones. We are sad he will never marry or have children or grow old. As his mother I will miss him every day of my life. The pain is still raw, because it has only been two months since his passing. We had a beautiful memorial for him. I was there when he took his first breath and I was there when he took his last. I am a donor and his brothers and sister are also donors. He will live on in the women he saved and in our hearts.
I would like thank the Donor Network of Arizona. They were kind and understanding of our wishes and made arrangements to follow them. They made beautiful memorial cards for us and made sure we were treated with respect and kindness. Rest in Peace my son; I will love you always.
