Sarah Elizabeth Wintz, Donante
At the age of 14 she wanted to be a donor...
Sarah Elizabeth Wintz decided at the age of 14 that she wanted to be a donor. In her wallet she carried a handwritten note that, along with our contact information, she had written: “I want to be a tissue and organ donor…I want my body donated to science. On December 2, 2003 she was out to dinner with her boyfriend when a 36 year old speeding driver ran a red light and t-boned them. Our beautiful 17 year old high school senior daughter died as the result of one man’s recklessness. Sarah planned to be a teacher of developmentally delayed preschoolers. She was a classically trained dancer, a singer, a vegetarian, and an avid animal rights advocate. She loved her family, especially her big brother, adored her dad, and had found her soulmate in her boyfriend, who miraculously survived critical injuries. Sarah was a deeply spiritual young woman who expressed no fear of death and expressed her goal in life as making a positive difference to as many people as possible. She lived with passion and joy in each and every moment. She did, indeed, give the Gifts of Life to help change the world. Always and forever, Sarah, you are in our hearts with much love.
